These event-specific rules apply to MetaZoo Classic Tournament I at the Local Legends Card Show. They supplement the linked Nightfall-era gameplay rulebook and do not replace MetaZoo’s general gameplay rules.

Spellbook Registration & 4th Wall Items

Spellbooks must follow the Nightfall-era construction rules. Every player must complete registration before Round 1.

Registration and Spellbook Lock

Registration must include:

  • Player name
  • Caster ID
  • Complete Spellbook list
  • Declared 4th Wall items

The registered Spellbook may not be changed after check-in. Spellbooks must be returned to their registered configuration after each match.

Declared 4th Wall Items

Players may declare up to four active 4th Wall items. Each item must appear on the player’s registration and cannot be changed after Round 1 begins.

Always-Active 4th Wall Effects

The following effects are always active for this event:

  • It is not a Full Moon tonight.
  • A Real Fire is within eyesight.
  • Casters are in a City.
  • Mosquitos are within eyesight.
  • A Real Tree is within eyesight.

Match & End-of-Round Procedures

Matches are Best-of-3 and each round lasts 60 minutes.

Match Structure

  • Best-of-3 matches
  • 60-minute rounds
  • Return the Spellbook to its registered configuration after every match

When Time Is Called

  1. The active player finishes Turn 0.
  2. Players complete three additional turns, beginning with the opposing player as Turn 1.
  3. If neither player wins, the player with the higher Life Points wins the game.
  4. If Life Points are tied, the game is a draw.

Sportsmanship, Judges & Organizer Authority

Players must respect opponents, judges, spectators, and staff; maintain a legal game state; and promptly report match results.

Sportsmanship

Unsporting conduct, cheating, bribery, outside assistance, or intentionally disrupting the tournament may result in disqualification.

Judge Authority

The Head Judge has final authority on all tournament rulings.

Tournament Organizer Rights

The Tournament Organizer reserves the right to interpret these rules and resolve situations not specifically covered on this page.
